Ian Dorrett – Volunteer of the Year 2009
Congratulations to Ian Dorrett, winner of Volunteer of the Year in the ‘Herts Sports Partnership 2009 Service to Sports Awards’
Ian won the award in one of the toughest categories at the ceremony held at the University of Herts on Wed 7th October. We are all so very proud of him, he fully deserved the recognition for the contribution he has made to our club.
Over the years Ian has been closely involved in all aspects of running the club, coaching, growing its membership, organising matches, maintenance, fundraising, social events and developing the facilities to include the approval and implementation of the much needed floodlighting for our courts, allowing tennis to take place all year round.
In our view Ian is an all round team player who has worked tirelessly for the club and possesses the kind of passion for the game that keeps Tennis alive and well at the grassroots in a small community like ours. Ian has recently retired from the committee but remains very much an active member of the club.
On behalf of all the members of Sarratt Tennis Club past and present, we would like to extend our sincere thanks and congratulations to Ian for his contribution and achievement.
